LAYOUTS

We have a particularly fine selection of high quality layouts this year which we hope you will enjoy.

Asenby St. Peter
This 0 gauge layout follows a light railway theme and is set in East Anglia in the 1950s. The layout, with its fine kit-built and scratch-built stock and buildings, is built and operated by Peter Simmerson.

Blythburgh
His previous layout, Corris, having been voted most entertaining layout by the visiting public at our 2002 Exhibition, we are pleased to invite back Peter Kazer with his latest layout based on the Southwold Light Railway. Interestingly this is ¼” scale narrow gauge.

Burntisland
Coming from Scotland, both in inspiration and construction, this S4 North British Railway layout was built for a challenge by the Scalefour Society to construct a layout with an area of 18.83 square feet. The layout is also set in 1883.

Copenhagen Fields
This very impressive 2mm finescale layout depicting the approaches to King’s Cross is built and operated by The Model Railway Club. The sweeping scenery containing a heavily built-up area has taken many years to build.

Deepcar
Depicting the Woodhead route across the Pennines this 00 gauge layout from the Nottingham (Bulwell) MRS shows the scene in its later years with DC overhead electrics in charge of the trains.

Easington Lane
Set in County Durham in around 1976, this EM gauge layout is built and operated by Ian Manderson. Coal mines are still open and blue diesels haul freight trains and Metro-Cammell DMUs provide a passenger service.

Gairloch and Wester Ross
A very entertaining 009 layout set in the North West of Scotland, trains can be watched as they wind their way up the hill through the finely detailed scenery on Roger Christian and Stan Williams’ layout.

Selah (Fruit Row)
The Yakima Valley Interurban line in Washington State, USA is the unusual inspiration for this H0 scale layout by Andy Gautrey. The layout includes steeple cab electrics in their later Union Pacific colours.

Sparkel
Winter in Bavaria around 1910 is the setting for this H0 layout built and operated by the Raven Model Railway Group. Snow is lying on the ground as small steam locomotives make their way through the cameo scenes and working features.

Steamwinders and Sawdust – Three Chop Highland
A rare opportunity to see this highly detailed layout: watch and listen to the On3 shay locomotives as they climb their way through the woods on Murray Reid’s layout. With viewing on all sides, this layout has beautifully modelled scenes to hold the interest, even when the trains have passed.

Sweethome Chicago
Against a backdrop of down town Chicago, USA, in the 1950s, this H0 layout by Jon Grant is run with steam and diesel locomotives. With its DCC sound and numerous railroad operating companies providing plenty of activity, this will be an interesting layout to watch.
