Some Extra Stuff
Turnout operation using a Scale Shops Turnout Unit
Please note that this is only one method of several that can be employed with this unit. It is designed to be operated either above or below board level and with any form of linkage in current usage. Suggestions are contained in the TOU's instructions.

The rod is made from 1mm brass and has a Z bend to add to the tie-bar at each extremity of the unit's throw. The rod passes through a 1.2mm hole drilled in the unit's travelling mechanism and two stops, made from soft wire wound round the 1mm rod, take up the excess movement.
P: 87 Double Slip

These two pictures are posted here for comparison with the standard HO turnout. Apart form the use of P:87 gauges the construction is basically the same. The double slip is not the easiest piece of trackwork to build because of its complexity, so best get the hang of building simple turnouts first.
